The SMK-500 operates like a normal smoke detector and will start beeping if smoke is detected but in addition it will notify the Chuango wireless alarm system which will then trigger the alarm system. Smoke detectors are programmed to the 24hour zone which means they are always active and working regardless if your alarm is armed or disarmed. The SKM-500 has a test button that also works as a hush button in case of a false alarm.
