Yes. Security Alarm Services has invested thousands of dollars to have our products tested and approved to RCM compliance requirements. This means our products meet the standards for New Zealand and Australia.

The first thing to consider is the functions and features you require from your alarm system. You should consider the following: Local alarm without any monitoring or a self-monitored alarm with SMS or WiFi push notifications.

A ‘Local’ alarm means that it will make noise when triggered but there is no remote monitoring option.

A ‘self-monitored’ alarm you can choose how to remotely monitor your system. This can be done via SMS and/or phone call alerts to your mobile or push notifications using your WiFi network. The Chuango G5W (3g) uses a SIM card for SMS and/or phone calls and the Chuango AW1 Plus & AWV Plus uses your WiFi network for push notifications.

Other things to consider are: Home arming for when you’re asleep at night; How many people will be using the system; Do you require a keypad or will remote controls be sufficient for arming and disarming the alarm; Do you want to be notified by SMS when a user has disarmed the alarm; How many areas, rooms, doors and windows do you need to protect with sensors and detectors? This is a security alarm that does not have any remote or self-monitoring. When the alarm is triggered it sounds the sirens and any connected strobes will flash. This is also known as a standalone security alarm.

Our Chuango G5W (3g) wireless security alarm will allow you to remotely self-monitor your protected premises using your mobile phone. This means when an event occurs that triggers your security alarm, it will send an SMS alert to up to 5 stored numbers and in addition the Chuango G5W (3g) security alarm can then dial up to 5 stored numbers if programmed to do so. The Chuango G5W alarm panel will require a standard size 3g SIM card with long life credit.

Our Chuango AW1 Plus WiFi wireless security alarm uses your WiFi internet and you can remotely monitor your system via push notifications. It is important to understand that if your internet connection goes down or is offline then the AW1 Plus cannot communicate with you however it will still operate and a local alarm until the internet is restored.

You can download the App for free and it can be used to set up your alarm system. You can also use the App to arm and disarm your system remotely. There are a number features with the App and it is important to note that the App will convert any command into an SMS therefore it does not use your wifi or data allowance. The App is optional as you can also set up your system simply by sending SMS commands.

No we do not. Unfortunately the B11 is not compatible to operate in Australia or New Zealand. When a phone line is connected to the system it creates noise on the phone line making it very hard to hear. It also interferes with ADSL services. Therefore we do not stock this product. We have had discussions with Chuango about this and it has been decided that the product will not be modified for Australia or New Zealand due to low sales demand. This is also the case for the A11.

The H4 only uses the 2g/GSM mobile network which is of not suitable in New Zealand because the 2g/GSM networks will eventually shut down.

The G5W (3g) security system is in higher demand and provides more advanced options and better SMS features than the B11. The B11 primarily relies on the phone line connection for alarm notification and it uses the GSM / 2g network as a backup. If there is an alarm condition the B11 simply dials stored numbers however you will not know what zone has been triggered furthermore you will not receive any notification if there has been a power failure, power restore or any low battery voltage alerts for sensors. The Chuango G5W (3g) alarm does provide all these features as part of the operating system. Even better still this system operates on the 3g mobile network unlike many other products on the market that still reply on the 2g/GSM networks.

We understand the B11, A11 and H4 are available from other online stores overseas however please be advised that these products are not certified or approved for use in Australia. In addition to this there will be no warranty provided for Chuango products purchased from overseas.

There is a tamper switch on the back of the panel which will trigger an alarm if the panel is interfered with.

We recommend installing the Chuango G5W Alarm panel in a central location within your home or property. This will allow for maximum wireless signal coverage for all your wireless accessories. The G5W (3g) security alarm panel should be installed in a safe location out of direct visual sight. If a break-in occurred it is important that a sensor such as a PIR is triggered before an intruder could make their way to the control panel.

We recommend the AW1 WiFi alarm should be installed within 10 metres of your modem or router because this will provide you with a good stable connection.

Usually not however we recommend that no other wireless devices such as cordless phones, WiFi modems and routers are located within two metres of the G5W control panel. This will help with strong communication signals between your wireless devices and accessories.

The AW1 Plus should be installed within 10 metres of your modem or router however try to allow 1 to 2 metres distance if possible. This will help with strong communication signals between your wireless devices and accessories.

Yes. The G5W has two rechargeable lithium batteries and they will provide approximately 5-6 hours of standby power. If there is a power outage the Chuango G5W (3g) panel will send you an SMS notification to inform you of the power outage. You can then take the appropriate action. When the power is restored the G5W (3g) will send you a further SMS notification to update you on the power status.

The AW1 Plus has a rechargeable lithium battery and it will provide approximately 24 hours of standby power. Keep in mind that if there is a power outage your modem / router will not be working so you will not receive any notification from the AW1 Plus because there will be no WiFi connection.

For local alarms such as the CG-105S, WS-280 and SPS-260, they all have built-in battery backups. The CG-105S will operate for approximately 24hours on standby power, WS-280 is 7 days and the SPS-260 is up to 45 days without any sunlight.

The RT-101 signal repeater also has a built-in rechargeable battery backup and will last for 24hours.

If you want to use the remote self-monitoring function you will need a standard size 3g SIM card. The Chuango G5W (3g) wireless security alarm will work on the Spark, Vodafone and 2Degrees 3g networks.

There are hundreds of pre-paid and post-paid options available and they change regularly. If you’re only going to use the remote self-monitoring function for notifying you of an alarm activation we suggest you look for a SIM card plan that offers 1 year credit expiry rather than a month to month plan.

If you will be arming and disarming the G5W via SMS then you might need a SIM plan with more credit because the G5W will send you an SMS reply each time you arm or disarm the system. If you are a heavy user then month to month might be the way to go.

The G5W and AW1 Plus will manage up to 50 wireless sensors, 50 RFID swipe tags (G5W Only), 10 remote controls (including keypads) and unlimited wireless strobe sirens.

The local alarm systems, CG-105S, WS-280 and SPS-260 can managed 40 wireless devices in total including remote controls.

Yes. You can set the system up so that only part of your home is armed when you are at home. Some people use this feature to secure their home when they are sleeping. This means you can move about in a selected area of your home without setting the alarm off.

The 24hour zone is designed for the likes of panic buttons or other devices that require 24hour monitoring. If a sensor is set to the 24hour zone and is triggered it will sound the alarm regardless if the alarm panel is armed or disarmed.
